Class Policies
Participation & Expectations
Scribblegiggle is a relaxed, child-led art experience. Children are invited to explore materials in their own way, at their own pace. Some days they may dive right in, and other days they may prefer to observe, wander, or play nearby. All forms of participation are welcome.
There is no expectation to complete a project or follow instructions. Grown-ups are encouraged to support curiosity while allowing children to lead their own experience.
Location & Affiliation Note
Scribblegiggle is not affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by the NC Museum of Art. We have permission to meet on the museum lawn; however, Scribblegiggle programs are independently run. Participation in Scribblegiggle activities does not constitute participation in NC Museum of Art programs or events. The NC Museum of Art is not responsible for Scribblegiggle activities, participants, or supervision.
Weather Policy
Scribblegiggle meets outdoors whenever weather allows.
We always make every effort possible to reschedule sessions rather than cancel due to weather. However, sessions may be rescheduled or canceled if conditions are unsafe, including rain, extreme cold, high winds, or other hazardous conditions.
Because materials are purchased in advance, weather-related cancellations are not refundable unless the cancellation is due to the instructor being unable to teach.
Weather-related updates will be shared the day before or the morning of class, as needed.
Please dress for the forecast and outdoor play.
Cancellations & Refunds
Registration is non-refundable once purchased, as spots are limited and reserved specifically for your family and materials are prepared in advance.
If a session or series must be canceled by Scribblegiggle due to circumstances such as instructor illness, hospitalization, or a family emergency and cannot be rescheduled, a refund will be issued.
If Scribblegiggle needs to cancel or reschedule a session for any reason, families will be contacted directly with next steps.
Attendance & Makeups
Because Scribblegiggle sessions are intentionally small and materials are prepared in advance, missed classes cannot be refunded or made up.
If you know you’ll miss a session, you’re still welcome to attend future weeks as usual.
Materials & Mess
All art materials are provided. Activities may be messy, sensory, or exploratory.
Please dress children in clothes that can get messy. Scribblegiggle is not responsible for stained clothing or personal items.
Sibling ATTENDANCE
Younger or older siblings are welcome to attend as observers. Activities and materials are intended for registered participants only.
If you have questions about siblings attending, feel free to reach out ahead of time.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK & Supervision
Scribblegiggle activities are informal, recreational, and exploratory in nature and take place outdoors.
By registering for and participating in Scribblegiggle sessions, families acknowledge that participation is voluntary and that outdoor creative play involves inherent risks. Parents and caregivers agree to assume full responsibility for their child’s participation, behavior, and well-being during sessions.
A basic first aid kit will be on hand; however, the safety and supervision of your child remains the responsibility of parents and caregivers throughout the experience.
Scribblegiggle, its instructor, and any associated venues are not responsible for injuries, accidents, or loss of personal property that may occur during participation.
Caregivers must remain present and actively supervise their children at all times.
Photo & Media Policy
Scribblegiggle occasionally takes photographs during sessions for documentation and storytelling purposes. These images may capture the creative process, materials, and atmosphere of our gatherings.
During registration, families are asked to indicate their photo preferences by selecting one of the following options:
Permission for your child and their artwork to be shown on the Scribblegiggle website and related social media accounts
Permission for your child’s hands and artwork to be shown, but not their face
No permission for your child to be shown in photos at all
We carefully honor the preferences selected on the intake form. If you choose not to have your child photographed, we will ensure your child is not included in images used publicly.
Photos may still be taken for internal documentation purposes only, such as planning, reflection, or record-keeping, and will not be shared publicly if permission is not granted.
If your preferences change at any time, please let us know and we’ll be happy to update our records.
Our Philosophy
Scribblegiggle is about curiosity, connection, and creativity, not outcomes. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, unhurried, and free to explore. Thank you for being part of a community that values process over product.
